"He had a whitish face with reddish tones and his white hair gained over his black one. Such state has genuinely pleased him as he always wished to meet his Lord on this state... His close companions were competing in getting his hair remnants during haircuts, and warmly greeting the barber who had the honour to be so close to him... He used to wear a camel hair-made dress in some occasions while in other occasions he wore a cotton-gown arranged through his neck and not lied upon his shoulders, putting the other end of the gown upon his head when he does not want to see people’s faces especially during the passage of women attending preaching sessions. The colour of his mantle (barnus) was a white one. He also possessed another camel-hair woven one. His turban was according to trustworthy sources from the well-known lamtayyeb type. The clothing is a rarity now...Continue Reading

The Sparkled Bridegroom in the Sealness of the Sultan Sayyidi Abil Abbas Tijani
"The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) told me that I am the Concealed Pole (al-Qutb al-Maktum) and the Sealed Isthmus (al-Barzakh al-Makhtum) in the state of wakefulness and not in state of sleep." - Mawlana al-Khatm Sayyidi Abul Aabas Ahmed Tijani (may Allah be pleased with him)

“Our Tariqa was particularized by Allah of a characteristic which places it above all the paths, and whose language cannot be understood, so that the truths of this cannot be known. If ever the veil which is covering this Tariqa was to be raised, the greatest of the poles (Aqtab) would have wished for it just as the shepherd of the desert areas wish for the clouds of rain. Pay attention! Do not let yourself be deluded because all of the paths come from it. It is the source of all the paths from the beginning of creation, till the blowing of the trumpet on the last day. Our Tariqa is hidden except from the Master of Existence (peace and blessing be upon him), for He knows...[More]

The great opening of Sidna Shaykh Abil Abbas Sidi Ahmed Tijani (may Allah be pleased with him) given to him by Allah , thanks to the intervention of his grandfather the Holy Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him), started at Tlemcen, and was crowned, at Chellala, and at Abi Samghroune in the Eastern Sahara. That is where the Holy Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) allowed Sidna Shaykh Tijani to inculcate in his Mohammedian Wird to those who require it, without any pre-conditions, apart from submission to the precepts and concepts of Islam, the approval to recite the WIRD, and the...[More]

In 1196/1781, the Concealed Pole, the Known Mohammedian Seal, Sidna Shaykh Abil Abbas Ahmed ibn Mohammed Tijani (1150/1735 -1230/1815) announced that his Grandfather, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) authorised him in a daylight vision (yaqadatan; while he was awake) to establish his own order, the Tariqa Ahmediya Mohammediya Ibrahimiya Hanifiya Tijaniya, and not use any of the chains of authority of teacher-to-disciple that were the main stay of all the Sufi orders. The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) had granted him permission to initiate mankind into the order during a period when he had fled from contact with...[More]

The Erudite Scholar Sidi Ahmed Sukayraj al-Fasi, may Allah be pleased with him, said: “My Master and Lord, Sidi Ahmed al-Abdellawi, may Allah be well pleased with him, related to me that some of the Khalwatis met with some of the Tijanis and they spoke to each other regarding the opening (fath) and its people. Then, one of the Khalwatis said to one of the Tijanis, “We accept from you that the Greatest Shaykh Sidi Ahmed Tijani is a “virile stallion” (fahlun yulaqqih)- meaning that he had arrived at the station of opening (fath), training...[More]

Chains and Ramifications
Since the goal of the mystic path is the transcending of the ego, it cannot be embarked upon without grace (tawfiq); nor can it be followed without the help of a spiritual master, who has himself traversed it, and without the spiritual education (tarbiya) by eye-glance (nadra), aspiration (himma) and state ('hal) which he confers on the disciple. Sufism therefore rests on unbroken spiritual succession which goes back, from master to master, to its origin in the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him)...[More]
